This itinerary emphasizes the park's incredible birdlife, particularly the flamingos, while still offering opportunities to see other wildlife.
Day 1: Arrival & Lake Manyara's Wonders
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK).
Transfer to your lodge near Lake Manyara National Park. Many lodges offer stunning views of the lake.
Afternoon: Embark on your first game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Focus on the lake itself, looking for the thousands of flamingos that often gather there. Also, keep an eye out for other waterbirds like pelicans, cormorants, and herons. The park is also known for its tree-climbing lions (though sightings are not guaranteed), so be sure to look up!
Evening: Enjoy dinner at your lodge, perhaps with a view of the lake.
Day 2: Exploring the Escarpment & Departure
Morning: Enjoy an early morning game drive, exploring the different habitats within the park, from the lake shore to the groundwater forest and the escarpment. This will give you a chance to see a wider variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and various antelope species.
Late Morning: Return to your lodge for brunch.
Transfer back to JRO or ARK for your departure flight or onward travel.
